Q: HOW LONG WILL A REPAIR LAST?
A:
There are no guarantees how long a repair will last. There are many factors which contribute to a proper repair, including but not limited to the surface, the environment, the quantity of tape used, and the amount of tension Kraken Tape® is stretched to. Because conditions and methods of use are beyond the manufacture’s control, neither manufacture nor seller will assume any responsibility for the use or misuse of this product. Kraken Tape® is not designed to be a permanent repair; however, many customers have reported that they made long-lasting permanent repairs.

Q; HOW DOES KRAKEN TAPE® WORK?

A: Kraken Tape® is manufactuered using self-fusing silicone which, when tightly wrapped, overlapping itself, permanetly fuses to create an air and water tight seal. Perfect for repairing leaking pipes and hoses.

Q: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE KRAKEN TAPE® TO WORK?
A: Kraken Tape begings to fuse in seconds, but for heavy duty and high pressure pipe repairs we recommend allowing at least 1-2 hours before recommencing any flow or pressure through the repair. For maximum durability allow 24 hours. Due to strict quality control and superior ingredients, Kraken Tape® is one the fastest bonding self-fusing silicone tapes on the market today.

Q: HOW MUCH KRAKEN TAPE® SHOULD I USE?

A: When overlapping Kraken Tape® by 50% as directed, you will automatically be left with a “double wrap”. This is sufficient for most weatherproofing applications such as electrical insulation repair. However, when repairing water pipes and sealing leaks, the more you use, the stronger the seal will be. Typically 3 to 5 layers thick and 75mm to 125mm to both sides of the damaged area should repair most leaks. Additional layers may be necessary.

Q: DOES THE SURFACE OF MY REPAIR HAVE TO BE CLEAN?
A:
No, Kraken Tape® does not stick to the surface of a repair and therefore it does not matter whether the surface is clean or dirty. By ensuring you overlap Kraken Tape® onto itself, it will be effective even if the surface is wet, dirty or oily. You should avoid getting dirt or oil between the layers, however, as this will interfere with the bonding process.

Q: WILL KRAKEN TAPE® EVER COME UNRAVELED?

A: As long as you have stretched Kraken Tape® and followed the directions properly, Kraken Tape® will permanently bond to itself and never come unravelled at the bond.

Q; HOW CAN I REMOVE KRAKEN TAPE®?

A: Kraken Tape® can be cut with a utility knife or scissors, and will never leave a ‘sticky’ residue behind like traditional adhesive tapes.

Q: WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE & HOW DO I STORE KRAKEN TAPE®?

A: For the longest shelf life, it should be kept at room temperature and away from direct light or heat. However, these factors only slightly alter the shelf life. Even when stored improperly, Kraken Tape® should last for many years. IMPORTANT NOTE: If intended for *Military or *Aerospace use then the product has a restricted shelf-life of 12 months.
