DNP Paper and Ribbon Media for DS620, DS620EX and SL620 Systems

Each media pack includes the matching paper and dye-sublimation ribbon required for printing. Depending on the media loaded, you can produce standard photographs, square prints, photo strips and panoramic formats, while the DS620 and DS620EX rewind function helps reduce unnecessary ribbon consumption when printing compatible smaller sizes from larger media.
Available Media Options:
- 4×6" / 10×15cm Media
- 5×7" / 13×18cm Media
- 6×8" / 15×20cm Media
- 6×9" / 15×23cm Media

Choose your media carefully: the media pack you load determines the print sizes available and the number of full-size prints in each box.

The DNP DS620 and DS620EX rewind function is one of the biggest advantages of the platform. Instead of wasting the unused part of the ribbon when producing a compatible smaller print from larger media, the printer can rewind the ribbon so the remaining section can be used for another print.
This gives photographers more flexibility from the media already loaded in the printer. For example, 6×8" media can be used for standard 6×8" prints, 6×6" square prints, 4×6" photos, 2×6" strips and, with a compatible workflow, panoramic prints up to 6×20".
The result is less waste, greater flexibility and fewer different media packs to keep on hand.
4×6" Media
800 full-size 4×6" prints per box. Suitable for standard 4×6" photographs and 2×6" photo strips.
5×7" Media
460 full-size 5×7" prints per box. Can also support 3.5×5" and 5×5" square formats.
6×8" Media
400 full-size 6×8" prints per box. Offers excellent flexibility for smaller sizes, square prints and panoramic output.
6×9" Media
360 full-size 6×9" prints per box. Ideal when you need the largest standard single-sheet output from the DS620 or DS620EX.
Specialist Media
Choose from perforated, sticker, metallic and Super Matte media for more creative products and specialist applications.
Paper and Ribbon Included
Standard media boxes contain two paper rolls and two matching dye-sublimation ribbons.
What Print Sizes Can You Produce from Each Media Pack?
The size printed on the media box tells you the maximum standard print size and number of full-size prints in that pack. It does not necessarily mean that you are restricted to producing only that one size.
Depending on the media loaded and the software or printing workflow being used, the DNP DS620 and DS620EX can produce smaller standard prints, square formats, photo strips and panoramics.
| Media Loaded | Full-Size Prints per Box | Possible Print Formats |
|---|---|---|
| 4×6" / 10×15cm | 800 | 2×6" and 4×6" |
| 5×7" / 13×18cm | 460 | 3.5×5", 5×5" and 5×7" |
| 6×8" / 15×20cm | 400 | 2×6", 4×6", 6×6", 6×8", plus 6×14" and 6×20" panoramic prints with compatible software |
| 6×9" / 15×23cm | 360 | 2×6", 4×6", 4.5×6", 6×6", 6×8" and 6×9", depending on workflow |
Why the Rewind Function Matters
Traditional dye-sublimation printers can waste part of the ribbon when a smaller print is produced from larger media. The rewind function in the DNP DS620 and DS620EX is designed to reduce this loss by rewinding the ribbon so an unused section can be available for another compatible print.
For photographers and photo booth operators, this means you can offer more than one print format without necessarily changing the media every time.
Panoramic Prints up to 6×20"
The DNP DS620 and DS620EX can go beyond standard 6×8" and 6×9" prints. With compatible 6×8" media and suitable DNP software or an SDK-supported workflow, the printer can create panoramic prints in:
- 6×14" / approximately 15×35cm
- 6×20" / approximately 15×50cm
This opens up possibilities for group photographs, sports teams, event photography, landscapes and other images that benefit from a wider format.
Square Prints Without Buying Square Media
The DNP DS620 and DS620EX also support popular square print formats using compatible standard media. Depending on the media loaded, you can produce:
- 4×4" square prints
- 5×5" square prints
- 6×6" square prints
This gives event photographers and photo booth operators more freedom to offer modern square photographs without needing a completely separate square media roll.
More Than Glossy or Matte
The DNP DS620 and DS620EX can offer more finish possibilities than a simple choice between glossy and matte. Depending on the media, software and workflow being used, available finishes can include:
Glossy
A bright, reflective finish with strong colour and a classic photographic appearance.
Matte
A lower-reflection finish with a softer appearance and reduced glare.
Fine Matte
A refined matte-style finish with a different surface effect from standard matte output.
Luster
A lightly textured, satin-like finish that sits between traditional glossy and matte appearances.
Partial Matte
Allows different finishing effects to be applied to selected areas of the same photograph in compatible workflows.
Specialist DS620 and DS620EX Media
The range goes beyond conventional photographic paper. Photomart also offers specialist media for photographers and print businesses looking to expand what they can sell.

Which media size do I need for the DNP DS620 or DS620EX?
That depends on the print sizes you want to offer. Choose 4×6" media for standard 6×4" prints and photo strips, 5×7" media for dedicated 5×7" photographs, 6×8" media for greater format flexibility and panoramic possibilities, or 6×9" media when you need the largest standard single-sheet print size.
-
Is this media compatible with the DNP DS620EX?
Yes. The media packs on this page are compatible with the DNP DS620EX as well as the DNP DS620. Compatibility with SL620 print systems can vary by media type, so please check the selected media option before ordering.
-
Can I print different sizes from the same media roll?
Yes. Depending on the media loaded and your printing workflow, the DS620 and DS620EX can produce multiple print sizes from one media type. For example, 6×8" media can support smaller formats such as 4×6" and 6×6", as well as full 6×8" prints.
-
What is the DS620 and DS620EX rewind or rollback function?
The rewind function helps reduce unnecessary ribbon consumption when producing compatible smaller print sizes from larger media. This allows you to offer more than one format from the media already loaded in the printer while reducing waste.
-
Can the DNP DS620 and DS620EX print panoramic photos?
Yes. With compatible 6×8" media and a suitable software workflow, the DS620 and DS620EX can produce panoramic prints in 6×14" and 6×20" sizes.
-
Can the DS620 and DS620EX print square photos?
Yes. Depending on the media loaded and workflow, the DS620 and DS620EX can produce square formats including 4×4", 5×5" and 6×6".
-
What print finishes can the DNP DS620 and DS620EX produce?
The DS620 and DS620EX can support Glossy, Matte, Fine Matte, Luster and Partial Matte finishes. Fine Matte, Luster and Partial Matte require compatible DNP software, SDK support or a suitable printing workflow.
-
Do I need different paper for glossy and matte prints?
No. With standard compatible media, Glossy and Matte finishes are created through the printer's overcoat process, so you do not need separate glossy and matte paper rolls.
-
How many prints are in each media box?
Standard 4×6" media produces 800 full-size prints per box, 5×7" media produces 460, 6×8" media produces 400 and 6×9" media produces 360.
-
Does each media box include both paper and ribbon?
Yes. Standard DNP DS620 and DS620EX media boxes contain matching paper rolls and dye-sublimation ribbons. Standard packs contain two paper rolls and two ribbons.
-
What is the difference between standard and perforated media?
Standard media produces an uninterrupted photo. Perforated media includes built-in tear lines so the finished print can be separated into smaller sections, such as photo strips or a main photograph with a detachable section.
-
What is sticker media?
Sticker media produces adhesive-backed photo prints. The backing can be removed after printing so the photograph can be applied to a suitable surface.
-
What is the difference between Metallic and Super Matte media?
Metallic media is designed to give suitable photographs a distinctive metallic appearance, while Super Matte is a specialist luxury media with a low-reflection matte surface. They are separate specialist media products rather than standard finish settings.
-
Can I use this media in an SL620 kiosk?
Many DS620 and DS620EX media packs are also compatible with SL620 print systems. Compatibility can vary by media type and kiosk generation, so check the selected media option before ordering.
-
Can I recycle my used ribbons?
Yes. Eligible ribbons purchased from Photomart can be returned through the Photomart recycling scheme. Qualifying photographers can receive £50 account credit for every 10 eligible ribbons returned.
