Each media pack includes the matching paper and dye-sublimation ribbon required for printing. Depending on the media loaded, you can produce standard photographs, square prints, photo strips and panoramic formats, while the DS620 and DS620EX rewind function helps reduce unnecessary ribbon consumption when printing compatible smaller sizes from larger media.

The DNP DS620 and DS620EX rewind function is one of the biggest advantages of the platform. Instead of wasting the unused part of the ribbon when producing a compatible smaller print from larger media, the printer can rewind the ribbon so the remaining section can be used for another print.
This gives photographers more flexibility from the media already loaded in the printer. For example, 6×8" media can be used for standard 6×8" prints, 6×6" square prints, 4×6" photos, 2×6" strips and, with a compatible workflow, panoramic prints up to 6×20".
The result is less waste, greater flexibility and fewer different media packs to keep on hand.

What Print Sizes Can You Produce from Each Media Pack?
The size printed on the media box tells you the maximum standard print size and number of full-size prints in that pack. It does not necessarily mean that you are restricted to producing only that one size.
Depending on the media loaded and the software or printing workflow being used, the DNP DS620 and DS620EX can produce smaller standard prints, square formats, photo strips and panoramics.

Why the Rewind Function Matters
Traditional dye-sublimation printers can waste part of the ribbon when a smaller print is produced from larger media. The rewind function in the DNP DS620 and DS620EX is designed to reduce this loss by rewinding the ribbon so an unused section can be available for another compatible print.
For photographers and photo booth operators, this means you can offer more than one print format without necessarily changing the media every time.
Example: with compatible 6×8" media and the right printing workflow, the DS620 and DS620EX can produce smaller 4×6" photographs, 6×6" square prints, full 6×8" photos and panoramic 6×14" or 6×20" prints.
Panoramic Prints up to 6×20"
The DNP DS620 and DS620EX can go beyond standard 6×8" and 6×9" prints. With compatible 6×8" media and suitable DNP software or an SDK-supported workflow, the printer can create panoramic prints in:
- 6×14" / approximately 15×35cm
- 6×20" / approximately 15×50cm
This opens up possibilities for group photographs, sports teams, event photography, landscapes and other images that benefit from a wider format.
Please note: panoramic printing requires a compatible software workflow. The physical media alone does not automatically enable panoramic output.
Square Prints Without Buying Square Media
The DNP DS620 and DS620EX also support popular square print formats using compatible standard media. Depending on the media loaded, you can produce:
- 4×4" square prints
- 5×5" square prints
- 6×6" square prints
This gives event photographers and photo booth operators more freedom to offer modern square photographs without needing a completely separate square media roll.
More Than Glossy or Matte
The DNP DS620 and DS620EX can offer more finish possibilities than a simple choice between glossy and matte. Depending on the media, software and workflow being used, available finishes can include:
Glossy
A bright, reflective finish with strong colour and a classic photographic appearance.
Matte
A lower-reflection finish with a softer appearance and reduced glare.
Fine Matte
A refined matte-style finish with a different surface effect from standard matte output.
Luster
A lightly textured, satin-like finish that sits between traditional glossy and matte appearances.
Partial Matte
Allows different finishing effects to be applied to selected areas of the same photograph in compatible workflows.
Important: Fine Matte, Luster and Partial Matte depend on compatible DNP software, SDK support or specific workflows. Not every finish is available through every printing application.
