Our Newly Launched Recycling Scheme

Since our founding, Photomart has always been proud to be a leader of innovation within the Photography industry. Since launching our very successful waste disposal scheme back in November 2022, we have had great successes in helping to combat climate change and do more for the environment, by stopping printer media being chucked away in any old bin.

We've now gone a step further and have put recycling efforts into place. All media now sent back to us, as part of our Recycling Scheme (Previously our Responsible Waste Disposal Scheme), will now be converted into clean energy, through catalytic conversion processes, in order to power turbines, where any extra energy will be exported back to the National Grid. Any leftover material will then be used as aggregate for roads and building foundations, ensuring nothing is sent to landfills.

Photomart are extremely proud to be the first Dye-Sublimation distributors in the UK and the world to be putting these processes in place and ensuring we leave the world a better place than we found it. To celebrate this, we are starting our #BETHEFIRST campaign. When you are sending your ribbons to us, after you've packed them up, post a picture on social media, tagging Photomart and using #BETHEFIRST to let people know you care about the environment.

How it works

• Place orders with Photomart and save up 10 used ribbons. As most media packs come with 2 ribbons per box, this will be 5 boxes. Make sure these orders are after 01/11/2022 as this is when we introduced the recycling scheme.

• Pack the 10 used ribbons into a box, along with a slip of paper with some identifiable information, this is preferably an email, but could also be your account number, or post code.

• Send the ribbons, with your preferred carrier, to:

Photomart,

Ellerman House,

Redburn Industrial Estate,

Woodall Road,

EN3 4LQ,

Once we have received your ribbons, we will match the ribbons sent up with the orders placed on the account details provided. If everything matches up, we will credit your account with £50 worth of loyalty points to be used on your next order. If there are any issues, we will notify you to get them resolved as soon as possible.

FAQ's

Is there no worry that the pictures taken can be accessed after?

No, not at all. The innovative technology we use to recycle the ribbons involves burning them before putting them through a catalytic conversion process, this ensures that no pictures on the ribbon can be accessed once they are sent through to us, meaning this entirely GDPR compliant and safe.

Who covers the cost of shipping the ribbons?

Due to the cost incurred by Photomart to recycle the ribbons, and reward customers for doing so, we do request that the cost of shipping the ribbons is taken on by the customer.

Do I have to ship them, or can I drop the ribbons to you?

Our showroom is open Monday to Friday, from 9:30am - 5pm, and Saturdays by appointment. If you're in the area, you're more than welcome to drop the ribbons by and provide your details. If you're looking to use the ribbons on an order you'll place in our showroom, we kindly ask you give us a 10-15 minute time span to book the points in for you.

Why do you only accept 10 ribbons at a time?

To ensure efficiency throughout the entire recycling process, we require 10 ribbons so we can do a bulk recycling, rather than completing the recycling bit by bit.
